New Reels: “Trap Tears” by Raury

Raury first came to our attention when he went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert wearing an “I Love Mexico” t-shirt with Donald Trump´s name crossed out on the back and made all of us fall in love with him and his obvious talent.

It was a great “silent” protest against Trump, and as he said so himself “Trump embodies separation, solving problems with anger, fear, and personal differences. I’m all about the opposite, about being inclusive and open.” We couldn’t agree with him more. Well, fortunately this 19 year old is here to stay by the looks and sound of his latest music video.

Trap Tears – Raury ft. Key!

The video was released on December 15th and it is for a song included in his album ALL WE NEED. His eclectic style mixes hip hop, folk and soul, infused with his youth and his background (He was born in Atlanta in 1996). His album made it to No. 15 in the US alternative chart and No. 78 on Billboard, but he is gaining fans and momentum with every performance.

He is rebelling against the idea that his generation is selfish and shallow and wants to prove there is more to it

“All of a sudden it’s strange that I love life, that I want to be loved. It’s not cool to always be talking about: ‘Oh, this week I fucked 14 girls and I’ve $50,000 in my back pocket.’ That shit is lame to me.”

Calling himself “the future of rap”, we cant wait to hear what he has in store.
