New Reels: “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” by Unknown Mortal Orchestra

We here on MVD are pretty much aware of the fact that Adele has released a new video. New Reels: “One Time” by Marian Hill

Though they have been around for a while, I have just recently discovered Marian Hill and cannot get the song out of my head so since its new to me, it is this week´s new reels. One Time – Marian Hill I discovered this fantastic duo which name is taken the two main characters from the musical The Music Man (Harold Hill and Marian Paroo) last week when I was catching up on my episodes of The Late Late Show with James Corden. The performance left me dancing. The members are Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol with a strong presence of jazz Read more »

New Reels: “Tell Your Friends” by The Weeknd

New Reels: “Tell Your Friends” by The Weeknd

After the success of “Cant Feel My Face”, The Weeknd release a new video and single  “Tell Your Friends”.  Tell Your Friends –  The Weeknd   If you pay close attention to the video for “Cant Feel My Face” at 1:11 the same character featured on “Tell Your Friends” shows up. Both videos are directed by Grant Singer, maybe they are telling a different story than what one might think? My guess is that white, red hair guy represents something deeper and darker…why does he shoot him in this video?  Will he drop another “trilogy” like his acclaimed mix tapes from 2011 but through Read more »

New Reels: “Champions of Red Wine” by The New Pornographers

A glimpse into The New Pornographers new video “Champions of Red Wine” released on May 28, 2015. As I wrote about before, many people are wondering what will happen to Cuba now that the blockade is ending. Just last week it was removed from the U.S. sponsor of terrorism list and thre has been a dramatic increase in tourism from Americans to the Island. I guess it was only suited that there was a music video to show what many foreigners go do in the island (and most underdeveloped Central and South American countries) Champions of Red Wine – The Read more »

New Reels: “Darlin’ Celsa” by Maestro

New music video “Darling Celsa” by Grammy Award winning producer, author and photographer Maestro. Darlin’ Celsa  – Maestro The French directing duo Parachutes take one of the themes that most humans on the planet can relate to, that of the feelings that can arise from looking at an old school yearbook album and turn it into one of the best videos I have seen this year and, to be honest, in the last couple of years. Ok, it is violent and dark, which is not my sort of thing, but it is done brilliantly and I can´t stop watching. American Read more »

New Reels: ‘Fool’ by Moon Bounce

New Reels: ‘Fool’ by Moon Bounce

Coming out of Philadelphia Moon Bounce is actually the work of Corey Regensburg about whom I’ve been able to find out very little except that he’s been releasing tracks for the last year or two which I guess could be labelled alt-pop if you really wanted to stick a label on it. This is his latest release and is his second collaboration with London based video director Andrea Youth. ‘Fool’ is a great example of Regensburg’s way with a slightly skewed groove, and Youth’s video – a daftly enjoyable skit about a kidnapped woman turning the tables on her comical Read more »

From Melbourne, Australia and after three years of silence the band Alpine released just 6 days ago their new song and video. “You brought too much too much metaphor to the Relationship, to what I see To how I kiss, yuck Yeah, ow I’m hating what I’m feeling but I’m So foolishly attracted to you You Baby you had me doubt all that I knew Hey you, can we move on?” You think with a lyric like that the song would be dense, or dark, but no, Read more »
