The Debut album (one of only 2 studio albums) by the group The Whitest Boy Alive came as a refreshing and tasteful contribution to the electronic scene.
This German – Norwegian band broke up in 2014 “We are no longer composing or playing together as The Whitest Boy Alive. The Rules we made for ourself became a Golden Cage.” but brought us two fantastic albums, Dreams in 2006 and Rules in 2009.
Burning – The Whitest Boy Alive
The group was formed in 2003 by bassist Marcin Öz, drummer Sebastian Maschat, Daniel Nentwig and my musical crush Erlend Øye. Erlend Øye is a Norwegian composer, musician, producer, singer, songwriter who has his solo project and is also a member of Kings of Convenience and founded the independent label Bubbles Records.
Above You – The Whitest Boy Alive
Dreams is electronica (with an actual band playing the instruments) that evokes New Order and early house music. The guitar and bass and drums are subtle, and the interpretation of the songs is clear and pure. I also got to see them live here in Bogota. It was an unforgettable concert set in a rural location, in the afternoon, not a lot of people and those of us there got to see a unique show that we wont ever forget.
The album is upbeat, and creates a perfect atmosphere for any moment. It is a great album you can check out here
And we finish this Album of the week post with one of their most memorable songs:
Golden Cage – The Whitest Boy Alive
